Fuerza Comunitaria Contra La Industria Carcelaria (Fuerza!) is a coalition of community organizations in Tucson, Arizona who are working together to build a world in which all people are treated with dignity and respect. We uphold the values of human rights and believe that families should not have to live in fear of being separated from their loved ones on a daily basis, nor should they have to endure the trauma of detention.
In 2011, some members of our coalition joined the National Prison Divestment Campaign, a national effort calling for public and private institutions to divest their holdings in the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and Geo Group, two of the largest private prison companies in the world. Both of these corporations make millions every year incarcerating immigrant families.
The members of our coalition include:
Corazón de Tucson, the Restoration Project, Coalición de Derechos Humanos, American Friends Service Committee, Tucson Childcare Collective, the Southside Worker Center, Tucson Solidarity Organizing Network, UA Jewish Voice for Peace, UA Students for Justice in Palestine, and UA No More Deaths.
